Why I'm fundraising for the Joslin Diabetes Center

 
Just Four Days to Go.  Need your help to cross the finish line and raise $5,000.
 
Hello to my family, friends, colleagues, associates, researchers, caregivers, nurses, doctors, and all who have been affected by diabetes among your families and friends.

 

I am running the Boston Marathon to help diabetes patients today and to remember my uncles and father-in-law who suffered from diabetes in the past.  For my nephew's son, Connor. For my Joslin Patient Partner, Gus Ramsey. And for Joslin, my customer  and my employer,

Because the disease affects so many people, it seems everyone wants to contribute something to this important cause. A trainer at my health club donated on behalf of his cousin and a newly met waitress at Legal Seafoods asked me to keep her tip and add it to the fund. I tipped her anyway, but will make a donation for her to my tally. They both have family members who have been affected.  If these two different people see the need and respond with a pledge, can you? My goal is to raise over $5,000.
 
This year 14 runners will take to the 26.2 mile course from Hopkinton to Boston and raise needed funds for Joslin’s High Hopes fund. We will be led by Flora Allen-Hopson, Celtic star Ray Allen’s energetic mother. Flo is running for her Type1 grandson, Walker. Who would you run for, if you wished? Help me to run for you and your loved ones as I have done so in past endurance-sports, fund-raising events. Your pledge can make a lot of things possible.
 

Thank you for your kind and generous support to a noteworthy cause that will help countless patients suffering from this disease to preserve their sight and improve the quality of their lives.  And please provide me with the name of the person you are pledging for, so I may carry it with me along the course.
